Paul McKee
Trombonist Paul McKee received the Bachelor of Music in music education degree from the University of Northern Iowa and the Master of Music degree in composition from the University of Texas at Austin. Since 1984, he has been a member of Woody Herman’s Thundering Herd and continues to tour and record with the band. In addition to making frequent appearances as a guest artist and clinician, he has served on the jazz faculty at DePaul University, Northern Illinois University, Youngstown State University and is currently a member of the jazz faculty at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music.
His compositions and arrangements have been performed and recorded by academic and professional jazz ensembles worldwide. Paul’s recent recording, Gallery, was released on the Chicago-based Hallway Records label, and features special guests Carl Fontana, Bobby Shew, Tim Ries and Ron Stout. (King)
