ITF2004 General Policies & Guidelines for All Participants

Participants must comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances, as well as College policies and procedures as set forth below and in other College publications. Participants in violation of such rules and/or who behave in an unsafe or careless manner while on College property may be asked to leave the College immediately without refund, and will be held responsible for their actions.
The following policies and guidelines have been drawn up to ensure the safety of you and fellow festival participants. Policies and Guidelines are subject to change at any time without notice.
Alcoholic Beverages: Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed in the residence hall lounge or other public areas without prior approval from the Office of Conference and Event Services. Alcoholic beverages may not be sold at the College. Participants of legal age are permitted to drink in their rooms, provided they comply with state and local laws and College policies pertaining to alcoholic beverages.
Badges: ITF Badges must be worn to all events (including Late Night Jazz). No exceptions.
Building Hours: The James J. Whalen School of Music is open between 7:00 am - 11:30 pm each day of the festival.
Bus Service (TCAT): The local bus service TCAT offers excellent connections across the city including between the Green St/Commons to Ithaca College. Buses start at 6am (7:30am on Saturday) and run every 30 minutes. All these areas including Tompkins County Airport are in Zone 1. Airport service does not operate on weekends.
Journey time from the Downtown Commons to Ithaca College is approximately 15 minutes. The last shuttle from Ithaca College to Ithaca City Center is at 1:14am (including Saturday). A 5-day unlimited pass costs just $12.50 and can be purchased online at the TCAT website, Ithaca College Bookstore, 140 Phillips Hall and Ithaca City Hall, Chamberlain's Office, 108 E. Green Street (near the Holiday Inn). Single tickets ($1.50 one-way) can be purchased from the driver while boarding the bus. For more information call (607) 277-RIDE.
Cellphones: Cellphones and pagers should be switched off during all performances and clinics.
Complimentary Drinks: Hot coffee, tea and iced water are available in the Registration Area (McHenry Lobby) each morning between 8:00 - 11:00 am.
Copyright: Audio and/or Video Recording any festival performances or clinics is strictly forbidden by federal and state law. Participants caught making illegal recordings using any medium will be asked to leave the College immediately without refund and may be liable to prosecution.
Damage to or Loss of College Property: Participants are responsible for the cost of repair or replacement of any loss of, or damage to College property caused by participants or their guests.
Damage to or Loss of Participants' Property: Ithaca College or International Trombone Festival (ITF) is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged property. Personal property left at the College after the festival will be tagged indicating where it was found and held for thirty (30) days at the Campus Summer Housing Office. Do not leave your instrument, accessories or other belongings unattended at any time.
Emergency: In an emergency, participants should dial 911. A First Aid Box is available at the ITF Registration Desk for minor ailments. While walking on campus, picking up any blue light phone will immediately register an alarm with Public Safety.
Exhibits: Exhibits are situated on the 2nd and 3rd Floors of the James J. Whalen School of Music. Exhibit hours are:

Firearms, Weapons, Fireworks & Candles: The possession or use of firearms, weapons, fireworks and candles is strictly prohibited.
Food & Beverages: Food and beverages are not permitted inside the performance venues.
Food Court: A range of fast-food services are available in the Food Court, situated inside the Campus Center Building between 8:00 am - 2:00 pm and 5:00 - 7:00 pm daily. Saturday from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Gambling: Gambling is not permitted.
Helmets: New York State Law requires the use of helmets for all persons riding bikes, scooters, skate boards, roller blades or similar items. Conference participants, and any minor children in their accompaniment will be responsible for abiding by these laws. Ithaca College strongly discourages the use of skateboards, scooters, roller baldes (etc) by minors while on campus.
Information Desk: An Information Desk is situated in the Registration Area (McHenry Lobby) to assist with all aspects of the conference, city of Ithaca and surrounding area.

Instrument Storage: Instruments may NOT be brought into the Ford Hall or Hockett Family Recital Hall. Instrument check services and lockers are available for a nominal charge. No exceptions.
Internet: The Computer Lab (Room 2103) on the Second Floor of the Music Building is open for ITF participants between 10am - 2pm each day of the festival.
Ithaca College Bookstore: The bookstore is situated inside the Campus Center. You may visit the Bookstore and purchase TCAT tickets as follows:

Minors: Participants who are under eighteen years of age may only attend the festival in the company of a legal parent or guardian. They are expected to adhere to an 11:00 pm curfew in the dormitories.
Parking: Parking is free on Ithaca College Campus but all vehicles MUST display a valid permit available at the ITF Registration Desk in the School of Music Building and/or Eastman Hall (for those staying in dorms). The permit is valid for B, C, D, J, T, U, and Z lots. The ITF assumes no responsibility or liability for parking tickets, towing charges or boots and stolen or damaged items. B, C, D lots are nearest the Lower Quad dorms. Z lot is nearest the Emerson Hall and J lot is nearest the School of Music.
Practice Rooms: Practice Room Facilities are available on the First Floor of the School of Music building. Rooms may not be reserved or held in advance. Practice Rooms are open from 8:00am until 10:00pm each day.
Photography: Photography of any kind is not permitted during performances and clinics. An official ITF photographer will be taking photographs for reporting purposes.

Smoking: In compliance with New York State laws, smoking is not allowed in public areas and is permitted only in a limited number of designated areas. Smoking will be allowed in residence hall rooms only if all occupants of the room agree. Emerson Hall is a non-smoking facility.
Taxis: For local taxi service call Ithaca Dispatch, Inc at (607) 277-7777. Ithaca Airline Limousine Service at (607) 273-3030 charges $45 for a one-way trip, $70 for a roundtrip ticket to Syracuse's Hancock Airport from your door. Regularly scheduled runs from the Ithaca area depart at 4 am, 7 am, 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm, 3:45 pm, 7 pm and 9 pm.

Additional Policies & Guidelines for Participants Staying in the Dormitories
Alterations: Participants may not make any alterations, changes or repairs or do any remodeling or painting of the facilities, furnishings or equipment provided. Participants may not use padlocks or change room locks nor move any college furnishings or equipment.
Antenna: Outside antenna are not permitted.

Check-Out: You must check out of the dormitories and return your room key by 11:00am on the day of check-out. Check out will be done through Eastman Hall, Summer Housing Office between 9am and 9pm every day.
Keys: A key replacement charge if $35.00 will be assessed for each key not returned upon departure.
Pets: Pets are not allowed at the College. If a pet is found in College housing facilities, a $200.00 cleaning/extermination fee will be assessed, and the pet must be removed immediately.
Quiet Hours: The playing of any radio, phonograph or musical instrument is such volume or creating noise in any other way so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of persons in any dwelling is prohibited, particularly between 10:00 pm to 7:00 am. Participants experiencing such problems should first contact the individuals responsible for creating the disturbance and if no satisfaction is received, their event coordinator. Participants are responsible for the conduct of their guests, as well as themselves, at all times.
Right of Entry: The College retains the right to allow duly authorized agents and representatives to enter housing facilities for the purpose of inspection or maintenance or in the event of an emergency. The College will not be liable for loss of or damage to personal property, including damages caused by such agents or representatives in the performance of their duties.
Solicitation/Advertising: Any solicitation or advertising at the College must be done in compliance with the College's policy on solicitation/advertising. Copies of this policy are available from the Office of Conferences and Event Services.
Window Ledges/Roofs: No
one is permitted to be on the window ledges or roofs at any time. Also,
objects (e.g., plants, laundry bottles, etc.) are not permitted outside
on the window ledges. Screens must stay in the window frames at all times.
