Things to do in Ithaca

Cayuga Nature Center - (607) 273-6260
Cayuga Nature Center is an environmental education center set on 128 acres of nature preserve located 6 miles north of Ithaca on Rt. 89. The facility offers educational programs for 4th graders through adults. A residential facility sleeps 95 persons and is available for weekend rental.

Cornell Plantations - (607) 255-3020
Cornell Plantations is a museum of living plants - the arboretum, botanical garden, and the natural areas of Cornell University. Plantations' grounds are open free of charge to individuals and families from sunrise to sunset daily. Group tours can be arranged in advance.

Ithaca Falls
Ithaca FallsOver 15,000 years ago receding waters and erosion worked to form a one mile long gorge called Fall Creek Gorge. The gorge is made up of six waterfalls, cascades, and rapids. The Ithaca Falls is the most famous because of its enormous size, 150' high and 175' wide! A small grassy park is located on the South side of the trail for picnics.

Other attractions in the area include Cass Park, Circle Greenway, the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, the Ithaca Commons, Ithaca Farmers' Market, M.V. Manhattan, Sapsucker Woods Sanctuary - Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Sciencenter and Stewart Park.

Recreational activities include many swimming areas, boat rental services, snow skiing, cross-country skiing and hiking trails, marina services, Cayuga Lake charters and tours, aerial sightseeing, bicycle rentals, farm stands, golf courses, horseback riding, hot air ballon rides, ice skating, skydiving, scuba diving, tennis courts and more
