
Hannes Hölzl
Hannes
Hölzl was born in 1987 in Bad Hofgastein (Salzburg) where he also lives.
He played his first notes on the tenor horn at the age of five then at the
age of ten started to play the trombone and now studies at the University
of Music "Mozarteum" in Salzburg with Dany Bonvin.
He has won numerous prizes at international brass competitions including winner of Prima la Musica in 1999, second prize in Cordoba (Argentina) in 2000, first prize at the European Solo Championship in Montreux (Switzerland) in 2001, fourth prize at the International Brass Competition in Markneukirchen (Germany) in 2002, fourth prize at Città di Porcia (Italy) in 2003, and second prize in the Prague Spring Competition in 2004 (no 1st prize was awarded), where he also received the Gustav Mahler Prize as the youngest finalist of the whole competition and the Prize of the City of Prague as best finalist in the trombone competition.
In 2002 and 2003 he was the soloist of the China Tour by the Salzburg Wind Band and the Austria Festival Orchestra. In April, he played a solo concert with the Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic in Pardubice, Czech Republic.
At the age of 16 he recorded his first Solo CD My Teddybear, with works such as the Concerto by Robert Jehmlich, Csardas of Vittorio Monti, Brillante Fantasie by J.B. Arban, Carnival of Venice by J.B. Arban and the famous Hummelflug (Flight of the Bumble-bee) by Rimsky Korsakov.
