Brazilian Trombone Ensemble

The Brazilian Trombone Ensemble is a group of six Brazilian trombone players, a percussionist and eventual guests. The idea of organizing the ensemble was born during the national trombone meeting of the Brazilian Trombone Association, in February of 2001, when the Paraíba Trombone Quartet (Sandoval Moreno de Oliveira, Roberto Ângelo Sabino, Gilvando Pereira da Silva e Stanley Bernardo da Silva), Radegundis Feitosa Nunes and Renato Farias Leite da Silva got together to play some trombone sextets. At that point all these trombone players where involved, together with Professor Gilberto Gagliardi, on a project to qualify and promote the GG line trombones made by WERIL (Brazilian manufacturer).

The Musical affinity plus the idea of promoting the instrument and it’s traditional and contemporary Music repertory, including a special attention to the so rarely played Brazilian Music Repertory to the instrument, seemed to be shared by all members of the ensemble who started immediately working on the searching of the already existing pieces for this kind of group and also promoting the commissioning of new ones, some of which are recorded on the two CDs of the ensemble, entitled DESAFIOS/CHALENGE and  A LITTLE BIT OF BRAZIL, both released successfully at the ITFs in Helsinki-Finland (2003) and Ithaca-N.Y., USA (2004), respectively.

The Ensemble has been successful playing concerts and teaching master classes in musical events in Brazil, on Radio programs, TV interviews such as the “Programa do Jô” (a Brazilian famous talk show transmitted internationally by Globo and CBN TV stations) and also as invited artists/faculty of Music Festivals such as the ITFs in Denton TX, USA (2002), Helsinki-Finland (2003) and Ithaca-N.Y, USA (2004).
