London Trombone Quartet

London Trombone Quartet was formed in 1995 to record some of the music by England’s finest jazz composers. Adding other instruments to the tried and tested line-up of four trombones gives the group a unique sound. The players are:
Mark Nightingale
Mark has appeared at international festivals alongside Carl Fontana,
Jiggs Whigham, Urbie Green, Slide Hampton and many others. He has been
featured with artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Cleo Laine, London
Brass, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Sting and Shakatak. He has penned
many compositions and big band arrangements,
plus several books of trombone studies.
Pete Beachill
Pete has performed with many diverse artists including Sting, Bjork,
Sir Paul McCartney, James Last, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones. Pete has
also played on over 200 film soundtracks including 4 James Bond scores,
Gladiator, Harry Potter, The Da Vinci Code. He has played at numerous
jazz festivals with artisits such as Carla Bley, George Russell, John
Surman, Kenny Wheeler, Hermeto Pascoal and Julian Joseph.
Alistair White
Alistair won the Royal & Sun Alliance Jazz Musician of the Year in
1997 and afterwards he went on to perform at the famous Blue Note Club
in New York. Alistair was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra
for many years and then went on to be a full time member of Jools Holland’s
Big Band performing with many music legends. Alistair also had a stint
with the Syd Laurence Orchestra and now performs with the Ted Heath Orchestra.
Dave Stewart
Dave was born in Glasgow in Scotland and studied at the Guildhall School
of Music and Drama in London . He was the winner of the 1983 Shell/LSO
brass competition and has been a member of the Academy of St Martin-in-the
Field and London Philharmonic orchestras. Live appearances include:
Quincy Jones, Kenny Wheeler, Mike Gibbs, John Surman and Natalie Cole.
Films: Lord of the Rings (complete) plus the last five James Bond movies
to name but a few. David has also played for many popular artists -
albums include Robbie Williams, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell,
S Club 7 and S Club Juniors.
