The International Trombone Festival will be held at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa from July 11-14, 2018.
Our Festival hosts are Jonathan Allen and David Gier
The breathtaking, newly constructed $198-million Voxman Music Building is a state-of-the-art music facility, covering a massive 190,000 square feet, across five floors, and is home to a variety of outstanding performing venues.
The University of Iowa is located in the heart of downtown Iowa City. While Iowa is mostly known for its well-known agricultural export, Iowa City is a city of the arts. In addition to being home to several art galleries and performances spaces, Iowa City is also a UNESCO City of Literature, the only city in the United States with this distinction.
With dorms, hotels, restaurants, and lots of other amenities within a short walking distance, and welcoming spaces within the Voxman Building, the UI College of Music is an excellent meeting place for the ITF community. Not only can you enjoy the Festival program in a beautiful environment, but there is plenty of space to visit with friends, old and new!
Rehearsal and concert spaces are not only conducive to outstanding musical experiences but are aesthetically inspiring as well. Enjoy world-class performances in stunning venues!
We hope you’ll join us for a great week of music-making at ITF 2018! Stay tuned for registration, travel, and other information!
For more information on the over one hundred food and drink options available to festival attendees, visit the Downtown Iowa City website.
Dear Jonathan and dear David,
Congratulations to your upcoming great ITF in Iowa at that fantastic looking location!
My name is Hubertus Schmidt – my American fellows call me Hubie Smith.
I studied with Ralph Sauer and Joseph Alessi and I am principal trombonist of the Halle State Orchestra Germany and I am an international active soloist!
It would be my pleasure to come in touch for you and hopefully for a musical-trombone activity for the UTF in July.
I am an official CONN SELMER Artist and a Warburton Artist and could do a recital and clinic for this fine companies.
I have a huge repertoire but my favorite is my John Williams Gala for Trombone and Piano right now:
Jurassic Park
Superman
Indiana Jones
Schindlers List
Harry Potter
Star Wars
All the best and it would be my pleasure to come in touch !
If you need some recommendations ask my friend and colleague studio player Bill Reichenbach, or ask my teacher Ralph Sauer or Joseph Alessi.
I am a soloist and teacher for the Puerto Rican Brass Fest since 2016 !
Sincerely
Hubie
