Jim Nova, Second/Utility Trombone of the Pittsburgh Symphony, is an avid soloist, chamber musician, orchestral performer and educator. Prior to joining the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, he was Assistant Principal Trombone of the Utah Symphony and he performed regularly with the Boston Pops, where he first had the opportunity to interact musically with John Williams.

Recently, he has received widespread attention and acclaim for his arrangements and over-dub performances of John Williams’ music from the Star Wars saga, a project culminating in the release of his second album, “A Fall from Light to Dark.”

This summer Mr. Nova will present a masterclass on his overdubbing process, including the use of hardware (microphones, computers, amps, etc.) and software. He we recreate multiple layers of some of the music from Star Wars LIVE in the masterclass. You won’t want to miss this!

See you in Iowa City!
